Coolant Separator features over-the-belt tank.

Press Release Summary:

ConSep® CrosBelt(TM) Coolant Cleaning Separator combines technologies of single-platform chip conveyor and coolant cleaning system with sloped bottom coolant tank integrated into vertical orientation. Large clean out portals at bottom facilitate sludge removal and cleaning. Since ports are located at bottom of tank, pump equipment and filter devices do not have to be removed and reassembled. Indexing filter drum removes chips and contaminates to 25 micron level.

Lean & Clean 'At the Machine' Coolant System Debuts at IMTS

Mayfran International rolled out unique, space-saving and user-friendly series of at-the-machine chip separator/coolant cleaning recovery system

Among the advanced chip handling and coolant reclamation products Mayfran International exhibited at this year's IMTS, the standouts were the many innovative at-the-machine systems. Heading the list was the new ConSep® CrosBelt(TM) Coolant Cleaning Separator that combines lean, over-the-belt tank design in a stand-alone unit. The ConSep CrosBelt product is a hybrid system joining together the technologies of the Mayfran ConSep 2000II single-platform chip conveyor and coolant cleaning system with a new, sloped bottom coolant tank integrated into a vertical orientation. The vertical design and sloped bottom, as compared to conventional flat bottom, shallow horizontal tanks, allows for greater coolant depth to maximize holding capacity while minimizing floor space requirements. And, with regards to volume-to-floor area ratio, the ConSep CrosBelt allows machine tools to comply with automotive industry standards for coolant retention capacity in its spacing-saving format.

The ConSep CrosBelt is the ideal solution for today's high speed machining applications where higher heat can be generated. The larger liquid volume helps to dissipate heat better and maintain more consistent fluid temperatures, resulting in longer tool life and improved part quality.

Then too, the system's ease of cleaning promotes more frequent maintenance routines, minimizing sludge and chip build-up in the tank that would otherwise displace coolant levels and cause temperatures to rise. The sloped bottom area of the sump provides an ample area for sediments to 'settle' out while large clean out portals at the bottom simplify sludge removal and cleaning. Since the ports are located at the bottom of the tank, pump equipment and filter devices do not have to be removed then reassembled. Typically, flat bottom systems will have this type of equipment mounted at the top of the tank requiring time-consuming removal to gain access for cleaning. In some cases, the whole coolant sump must be disconnected and moved away from the machine tool for adequate access. This is not required with the ConSep CrosBelt.

Maintenance is further simplified and performance enhanced because the CrosBelt concept is based on the ConSep II platform with an indexing filter drum that was designed to remove chips and contaminates to a 25 micron level. The cleanliness of the system and control of contaminates also helps protect pump and coolant system components as well as machine tool elements from blockages, excessive wear, and damage.

The addition of a Mayfran AT(TM) Cleaner cleans coolants to 10-15 micron nominal levels...ideal for high pressure machining applications. An optional chiller unit may also be added.

In addition to ConSep CrosBelt technologies, Mayfran produces a wide variety of chip and coolant handling systems for machine tools and machining operations. Included are the ConSep 1000 and ConSep 2000 systems, the centralized Viavent® system for facility-wide chip and coolant pumping, conventional machine tool chip conveyors, plus systems for grinding operations and custom applications.
