Dorner Gangs Up to Enhance its 2200 Series Conveyors

HARTLAND, Wis., (Dec. 23, 2002) - Dorner Mfg. Corp. is putting another gang to good use. Dorner this month expanded its gang drive system for 2200 Series conveyors. Gang drive is an option that allows multiple conveyors to be driving from one drive shaft by using thru-hex-bored pulleys.

There are several advantages to using the gang drive option.

o Minimize quantity of motors needed.
o Reduce space requirements by remote mounting of drive motors.
o Achieve the same belt speed among multiple side-by-side conveyors.
o Keeps electrical equipment such as motors out of hazardous machine and work envelopes.

Performance and specifications for a 2200 Series gang drive conveyor are the same as a regular 2200 Series with the following exceptions:

o V-guided belt widths are available up to 18 inches wide, compared to 24 inches for regular 2200 Series.
o Pulley diameter is 1 inch, compared to 1.25 diameter for regular 2200 Series.
o Gang drive pulley is hollow to allow a hex shaft to extend through it to drive multiple conveyors.

The gang drive option is also available on Dorner's 6100 Series industrial conveyors. Using the gang drive option gives customers added flexibility in such applications as:

o Stamping press part and scrap removal.
o Conveying of wide products across multiple belts.
o Creating multiple lane conveying system.
o Providing access to underside of parts being conveyed.
