Slim-Line Tunnel Washer

May 15, 2002 - Saratoga Springs, NY

An extended conveyor cleaning system from Guyson Corporation has been developed for work cell parts washing operations. The Model 600 is modular design, so it can include rinsing, air knife blow-off, drying, and numerous solution management features.

To maintain a small footprint for lean cell layouts, items such as blowers, detergent storage tanks and vapor extractors are located up on top of the process chambers. The system is offered with an Allen-Bradley PLC, a variety of sensors and fault indicators for enhanced control, and a convenient touch-screen interface.

Fabrication of the tanks and process chambers in 304 stainless steel allows the flow-through washer to be used with the full range of aqueous spray cleaning chemistries without corrosion. A stainless mesh belt from 16 to 24 inches wide transports components at adjustable speed as they are presented first to high-impact spray from jets on all sides, then to blow-off by high velocity air knives. The total floorspace occupied by the system in a a wash-rinse-blowoff-dry configuration is 51 inches wide and 130 inches long (1.3 m X 3.3 m).

Both sides of the washing and rinsing modules are fitted with large, hinged doors to provide easy access for inspection and maintenance. The operating noise of the system is reduced by an insulated superstructure that encloses the roof-mounted turbo blowers.

Prospective users of Guyson conveyor washing systems are encouraged to submit sample components for free laboratory testing and a feasibility study. The machine builder offers to run cleaning trials and to capture critical process data to guide in application engineering.
