Interroll Develops Multirib Belt Idler Hub for RollerDrive

Wilmington, N.C., January 8, 2007 - Interroll Corporation has developed a new series of end housing designs for the RollerDrive product that includes an improved nine-groove design that enables customers to utilize a belt with the potential of using up to 4V's. Designated the Multirib Belt, this hub provides improved roller-to-roller performance and efficiency with an increase in torque transmission.

"The Multirib Belt hub provides an effective alternative to grooved rollers by working in conjunction with Interroll's RollerDrive system," said Ken Bobick, Global Product Manager for Interroll. "After closely monitoring the new hub's performance in our customer's facilities, we have determined that the torque transmission from roller to roller can be up to 150% higher for a 2V belt and up to 200% higher for a 3V belt in comparison to standard round belts."

The Multirib Belt has a maximum load capacity of 35kg(94lbs) and a maximum velocity of 2m/s(394 fpm). Since the drive unit is separated from the conveyed goods, it reduces the chances of the belt being damaged from wet or sharp goods. Interroll has also leveraged this concept to re-locate the traditional O-ring concept in to a separate hub design eliminating the need to groove the roller tube.
