Conveyor Management System detects faults on belts.

Press Release Summary:

Conveyor Management System (CMS) instantly detects abnormality on conveyors to prevent damage from occurring. System monitors belts throughout entire process with series of trip switches along every 300 ft of conveyor. When faults are detected, production is stopped immediately. Various fault detection devices are available to transmit signal through pull cable to Head End Control Unit, which then displays location of fault and exact problem on its LCD display.

The Arch Conveyor Management System

The foundation for all conveyor monitoring and system control

Paducah, KY (August 2002) - In most industries, production begins with a product in bulk form. No matter what the product may be, it is most often transported at some point by a conveyor. Therefore, a reliable conveyor is imperative to a complete production process to insure employee safety and to detect problems along the conveyor's route. Arch Environmental's Electrical Controls Division has the capability to design, build, integrate and test a customized conveyor system created for any specification or need. As the conveyor efficiency specialist, Arch can provide the complete solution for any conveyor from 10 feet to 10 miles!

Arch Conveyor Management Systems instantly detect abnormality on a conveyor and prevent major damage from being caused. These systems monitor the belts throughout the entire process with a series of trip switches along every 300 feet of the conveyor. If even a minor fault is indicated, production is stopped immediately, thus eliminating unnecessary downtime that would result in a greater problem if not detected.

If a fault is to occur, the detection device transmits a signal through a pull able to the Head End Control Unit. This unit will read the signal and display the location of the fault and the exact problem an the LCD display. The CMS has the ability to incorporate any of the following fault detectors into the system: troughing belt misalignment, return belt misalignment, belt tear, belt rip, block chute, motor/gearbox temperature monitors, belt underspeed/slip detector and other switches or equipment, based on a systems specific needs.

The Arch controllers monitor and supervise the entire operation providing fault and status operation to a central control room. Within the central control room, Arch combines the information from all the field components and controllers to provide an overview of the entire operation. Arch provides a complete and concise picture of all plant operations, including the present status as well as the tracking of all alarm systems.

In addition, with the CMS System, the use of conduit is unnecessary. The high-tensile steel braiding provides the pulling facility to stop the conveyor, while the six internal conductors serve as both the electrical and control cable for the entire system. This elimination of conduit and hardwire between the pull cord switches insures a cost savings on Arch's longer conveyor systems. WHY EXACTLY? Also, Arch employs RF Radio Transmitters to communicate data, removing the need for hardwire interface to the control room.

All pieces within the system are tested prior to shipment to eliminate delays during start-up as well as unnecessary downtime in the future. By providing a system rather than pieces, Arch is able to control the flow of material, correcting problems en route by stopping or diverting the belt and then restarting it sequentially. The Arch Conveyor Management System is unsurpassed by any system currently available to the market.
