Original Press Release:

14-Bit, 6Msps ADC Offers 79dB SINAD & 91dB SFDR

MILPITAS, CA - February 5, 2003 - Linear Technology introduces the LTC1740, a 14-bit, 6Msps Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) that offers an exceptional combination of AC performance and DC accuracy for high-resolution imaging, spectral analysis and high-speed data acquisition systems. Excellent AC performance of 79dB signal to noise plus distortion (SINAD) and 91dB spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) allows wide dynamic range applications to capture weaker signals adding higher definition to imaging and spectral applications. DC linearity of 0.8LSB Integral NonLinearity (INL) and 0.5LSB Differential NonLinearity (DNL) complements the wide dynamic range performance and allows data acquisition systems to deliver high accuracy from DC to Nyquist.

The LTC1740 offers a highly flexible input range, which can be configured for a full-scale span from ±1.25V to ±2.5V, allowing the ADC to match the input signal maximizing the single-to-noise ratio. The LTC1740 operates with a single 5V supply or dual ±5V supplies, simplifying the analog interface to a single or dual supply systems. For easy low voltage connection to DSPs and FIFOs, there is a separate digital output supply pin.

The LTC1740 is available in a 36-pin SSOP package for both commercial and industrial ranges. Pricing begins at $17.20 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
