New Multiple Loop Controller from Watlow Provides DeviceNet(TM) Temperature Control Interconnectivity

Controllers Combine Performance and Flexibility in a Compact Design

St. Louis - The new D8 Series of controllers from Watlow offers PID control of up to eight loops and DeviceNet(TM) compatibility, all within a compact 1/8 DIN package.

Compliance with ODVA (Open DeviceNet Vendors Association) and Semiconductor SIG (Special Interest Group) specifications make the D8 simple to integrate into systems built on DeviceNet networks on CAN (Controller Area Network).

The new series is available in four and eight loop versions and can support multiple types of sensor inputs, including thermocouples, RTDs, linear voltage and current. Each loop
can be individually configured for on-off control or PID control, and loops can be combined to achieve cascade, ratio or differential control.

Advanced utilities, such as auto-tune, cascade and ratio control, provide users with multiple options to maximize performance. Auto-tune optimizes control with little effort,
while cascade helps minimize overshoot and improves control in systems with excessive thermal lag. Ratio and differential control allow users to enhance control in systems where the relationship between two or more loops is critical.

The D8 features a sealed micro connector to minimize installation time, provide a smaller footprint and to maximize its reliability. To make setup simple, the controllers have
menu guided, full-text prompts, as well as rotary baud rate and node address switches. Network and module status LEDs simplify network commissioning and troubleshooting.

All D8 controllers are UL® and C-UL® listed, meet the requirements of the European Community EMC Directive and carry the CE mark.
