Controllers feature text display to simplify operation.

Press Release Summary:

Models 3508 and 3504 are 1/8 and 1/4 DIN controllers, respectively, designed for single loop applications. They interface to iTools configuration and maintenance software using built-in hardware port or infrared port located on front. Software will save and reproduce complete configuration, set up profile recipes, maintain clone files for documentation, and provide diagnostics. Controllers can store up to 50 setpoint programs, each of which can provide control sequencing.

Eurotherm Introduces a New Line of Controllers with Text Displays That Simplify Operation/ Configuration

LEESBURG, VA, USA, June 23, 2003 - Eurotherm, a worldwide leading manufacturer of temperature controllers and process instrumentation, announces a new line of high accuracy controllers with advanced control algorithm and high resolution input. The model 3508 (1/8 DIN) and model 3504 (1/4 DIN) have been specifically designed for demanding, high-accuracy, single loop control applications. Eurotherm has also addressed the requirement for a controller that is easier to use by including a text message display. This scrolling text display shows the exact name of parameters and alarms saving time during commissioning and operating the unit. A manual is no longer required as a reference. The User can customize the text on the controller and display it in three languages; English, French, or German.

Additionally, Eurotherm's iTools, PC configuration and maintenance software, has been enhanced for the new 3000 series family of controllers. iTools now includes a graphical editor for the 3508 and 3504 with drag and drop configuration. These controllers interface to iTools using a built-in hardware port or an infrared port located on the front of the controller. This software will save and reproduce the complete configuration, set up profile recipes, maintain "clone" files for documentation and provide diagnostics.

These instruments provide a number of advanced programming facilities for the control of complex processes. There is available storage for up to 50 setpoint programs, each of which can provide control sequencing. These controllers incorporate, as standard, a number of "control function blocks" for logical and math operations. This allows the user to eliminate a number of other process control components such as timers, counters and programmable controllers.

Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet, and Device Net digital communications are available options in the 3508 and 3504 for connection to supervisory computers or Programmable Logic Controllers. Both the models have the distinction of being labeled "ArchestrA Ready". This assures they will operate with the new Invensys plant automation platform, ArchestrA.
