New Chromalox(R) Temperature Controllers Features Built-In Programming Port For Fast Installation

PITTSBURGH - November 15, 2001 - Chromalox, a division of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), announces availability of its new temperature controllers, Models 1601E and 1603E that feature a built-in programming port for remote or OEM fast configuration. Models 1601E and 1603E each come in a compact 1/16 DIN package. Typical applications include rubber production, packaging and packaging equipment, extrusion and co-extrusion lines, plastic films and injection presses, fermentation equipment, reactors for chemical and pharmaceutical industries, food industries and refrigeration. List prices start as low as $190.

The controller can be programmed from the front pushbuttons or can be programmed via the built-in programming port. This fast configuration feature comes standard on all controllers. Original equipment manufacturers will find that the configuration port will reduce production labor and result in higher quality and consistency by quickly uploading from the OEM's PC the exact same controller configuration every time into its end product. This in turn will allow the OEM's customers to get up and running faster and reduce lengthy troubleshooting and start-up calls to OEM service departments. The controller also allows OEMs to save multiple programs for each of its individual products or shipments, which makes this controller ideal for a job shop environment. Finally, the controller allows OEMs to store and save product parameters electronically in service department files for later reference or troubleshooting.

Distributors will find the product useful for providing value-added services to their customers, by simply storing customer configurations or offering a programming service with the sale of each controller.

Both OEMs and resellers will appreciate the simple setup process. A user can have a process up and running in a few steps: 1) Insert connector pin into temperature controller, 2) Connect the pin connector to a PC port, 3) Connect the power supply, 4) Download the setup. No tools are required.

Control Features. These DIN controllers have more general PID control algorithms that can be field configured for a wide variety of functions, including controls of pressure, flow and level, as well as temperature. Temperature controllers include SMART Self Tuning of PID coefficients.
