Original Press Release:

Low Cost Controller Board Uses High Performance Basic

Fairport, New York. SBC4010 is a new economical 3" x 3" controller board that is programmable in Tiger-BASIC, allowing high-speed multitasking for a wide variety of cost-sensitive applications. Priced only slightly above the familiar gray versatile Tiger modules, SBC4010 offers excellent value in a
compact control board for machine control and smaller automation projects. This powerful, versatile low-power Tiger board runs from 9-24VDC/100mA. Its highly stable runtime system is field programmable on-site using integrated FLASH memory.

Included on SBC4010 are the features most needed in control applications, which saves users from creating their own boards, and gets designs into production in weeks instead of months: up to 512 kByte/2MByte SRAM/FLASH program/data memory, 1 x RS232, 1 x RS485, LCD interface for text or graphic displays, key-matrix interface, universal 8 bit I/O port, optional battery-backed realtime clock and SRAM, 4 x analog inputs (8-12 bit, 0-1V
or 0-10V), 4 x Power FET outputs (24V/1A with PWM or sound capability), power-down detection, etc. I/O connections use convenient screw-terminals.

Tiger-BASIC software contains familiar BASIC syntax and instructions, but produces extremely fast, highly stable compiled runtime code, multitasking up to 32 BASIC and 64 system tasks simultaneously. Device drivers and lots of ready-made sample programs offer quick development and powerful interfacing with minimum hardware requirements. Up to 200,000 lines of
BASIC code are possible, and free Flashmemory areas can be used for storing static or dynamic information, e.g. settings, calibration data, pictures, sounds, data-logging, etc. Furthermore, a password-protected Tiger module can neither be erased nor programmed by unauthorized users, vital in security-conscious applications like in cash dispensers, ticket machines, entry control systems, safes, vending machines, etc.
