Original Press Release:

Heidenhain iTNC 530 - Now Also with Windows 2000

SCHAUMBURG, IL - (February 2003) - In the continuing development of the TNC series of controls, HEIDENHAIN is now presenting the iTNC 530 with Windows 2000 as an additional operating system. The iTNC 530 pursues the already successful course set by TNC contouring controls and, thanks to its powerful processor architecture, establishes new standards for high speed cutting in short block processing times and optimum path control.

By offering the iTNC 530 with this second operating system, the machinist on the shop floor has direct access to Windows applications for use during machining. If the control is integrated into the company's intranet, he can also use browser-based applications to find all relevant information such as CAD drawings, tooling sketches or tool lists. It is also possible to access Windows-based tool databases where the machine operator can very quickly find tool data such as cutting speeds or permissible plunge angles. This saves time otherwise lost in printing and distributing production documents.

The fast, paperless exchange of information over the Fast Ethernet interface between the designers or process planners and the machinist via the company network reduces non-productive time. Also, machine data and production data are easily acquired with your own Windows applications for better monitoring of productivity.

To accommodate Windows programs, the keyboard now also includes a complete PC keyboard with touchpad. The high-resolution 15-inch color flat-panel display shows both the iTNC user interface and the Windows applications. Standard PC devices such as a mouse and drives are easily connected to the control over two USB interfaces.

Whether for single parts or small to medium-size production runs, for simple or complex workpieces, in tool or mold-making or on machining centers, the versatile iTNC 530 is the right control for all requirements.
