Monitor Toxic and Flammable Gases at a Glance with Crowcon's Gasmaster

Keep workers in industrial settings safe with control panel

Erlanger, KY (January 12, 2007) - Monitoring toxic and flammable gases in industrial settings with Crowcon's new Gasmaster control panel means accurate and quick protection. The wall-mounted device displays all gas levels simultaneously on a large, multilingual LED display, allowing full system status checks at a glance.

The Gasmaster monitors up to four channels, with two levels of alarm per channel, interfacing with virtually any combination of flammable and toxic gas detectors, as well as oxygen and fire detectors (smoke, heat or flame).

All functions, from day-to-day operation to re-calibration, are displayed on the front panel, to carry out routine testing instantly. The device also warns when calibration is needed; all inputs and outputs are quickly tested at the push of a button.

All alarms and faults are recorded in an event log, which can be accessed regularly to assess risks on-site. Analog outputs and RS-485 digital communications allow the control unit to be connected to PLC/DCS/SCADA systems, a PC, a chart recorder or data logger. An integral 85dB multitone alarm is provided with standard equipment. A standard battery backup ensures continual protection even if main power fails.

The Gasmaster's system operates in fail-safe mode, actively monitoring all coils and issuing a warning in case of relay failure. In its alarm state, both visual and audible signals are activated. In addition, relays control other plant equipment such as ventilation systems, status lights and valves, depending on the alarm state of the control unit. Alarms may be powered and reset directly from the Gasmaster panel or by remote action.

Installation and maintenance is simple, with ample space for cable glands and termination of wiring. The Gasmaster has four independent input channels for any type of 4/20ma input device that can detect conditions such as pressure, humidity, flow and temperature. The unit's accompanying software offers easy programming, event logging and collection via a user-friendly PC connection. The Gasmaster has earned CSA approval Class 4828 01, CSA Std C22.2 No. 142-M1987 and No. 152-M1984.
