Products are flame-retardant and resistant to abrasion, coolants, fuels, fungus, water, temperatures down to -50 °C, and UV-rays.

Original Press Release:

New LEONI L-FLEXX 690 Series for High-Flex Performance in Harsh Industrial Environments

Fairfield, NJ, October 2002 - Responding to a growing customer demand for installation-ready cabling solutions for high-flex applications in harsh industrial environments, cablemaker LEONI Tailor-Made Cable (LTMC) launches its new LEONI L-FLEXX 690 product line. The in-stock cables are extremely flexible, small diameter, 600 Volt/90°C rated, Polyurethane (PUR) jacketed control cables.

The new LTMC cable series is designed for applications that require long-life continuous flexing, optimum oil resistance, and excellent performance in harsh environment conditions. The LEONI L-FLEXX 690 line offers the perfect fit for tight cable tracks where the cabling is required to flex millions of times at high speeds. The diameter-reduced cables can withstand a bending radius as small as five times the outside diameter. The optimized design - featuring extra-fine stranded copper conductors, specially formulated insulation, and low friction woven wrap - allows for up to 18 million flex cycles.

Available in unshielded and shielded versions (690 P+690 CP) with different AWG sizes and number of conductors, the PUR jacketed LEONI L-FLEXX cables are flame-retardant and resistant to abrasion, coolants, fuels, fungus, water, extremely cold temperatures (-50°C) and UV-rays. Coming with global approvals (UL/CSA/CE), all LEONI L-FLEXX 690 cables are free of halogens, talc, silicone and lead.

Main applications for the new LEONI L-FLEXX line include industrial operations (both indoor and outdoor), factory automation and drive systems, robotics and cable tracks, machine tool and injection molding equipment, semiconductor and pharmaceutical processing, forestry, pulp, paper and printing, aerial and scissor lifts, construction equipment, as well as marine and submersible equipment.

The development of the L-FLEXX line has been backed by the cablemaker's worldwide expertise of designing and building more than 25,000 customized cabling solutions for a wide range of industries. LTMC's new in-stock items - manufactured at LEONI's North-American production facility LEONI Elocab in Kitchener, ON/Canada - are available overnight with no minimum order requirements.

Founded in 1917, LEONI is a key player on the international market in the production of cables, wire and wiring harnesses. About 40 percent of LEONI's total revenue of approx. US$ 1.1 billion is cable-related with a growing portion of tailor-made designs.
