Original Press Release:

Chainflex CF130US and CF140US Continuous-Flex Cables from igus Lower the Cost of a Complete Energy Supply System

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - December 17, 2003 - Chainflex® CF130US and CF140US continuous-flexing tray cables from igus® Inc. are an affordable cable option and are part of the Chainflex line of continuous-flex cables designed specifically for use in Energy Chain Systems®. Chainflex cables withstand the stress of tight bending radii to deliver longer extended life at a lower cost. Igus offers an extensive line of cables, in more than 500 sizes and styles.

The flame-retardant CF130US (unshielded) and CF140US (shielded with tinned copper) Chainflex cables are constructed with TFFN/THHN insulation and a UV- and oil-resistant PVC jacket. These cables are approved for use in a multitude of common industrial installations and can perform multiple tasks, thereby reducing the number cables needed for installation. This aids in lowering the overall cost of control and power systems. Approvals include Tray Cable for Open Wiring (TC) for installation in cable trays, Machine Tool Wire (MTW) for general wiring of industrial equipment and Appliance Wire Material (AWM) for wiring of various devices. CF130US and CF140US have passed the stringent UL Vertical Tray flame test and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) FT4 flame test, as well as being CE certified.

Igus offers a variety of Chainflex cables from control and power to Ethernet, fiber optic, signal, bus and servo cables. All Chainflex cables are based upon the same design principles to deliver superior flexibility and extended cycle life. Applications demanding small bending radii down to five times the outside diameter-even with continuous operation-are ideal for Chainflex cables.
