Continental Hydraulics to Show a Variety of Precision Hydraulic Valves at IMTS

Continental Hydraulics, a DoALL family company, will show a variety of precision hydraulic valves in the North Building Booth B-7301 at the International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago, Illinois on September 8-13, 2008. Products on display include double redundant dual monitoring and lockout valve packages, PO*MSV stackable, adjustable, pressure compensator valves, VED05M proportional control valves with on-board electronic amplifier, and F0*MSV stackable, two-speed hydraulic control valves.

Double redundant dual monitoring valve packages and lockout valves help ensure better operating and safer hydraulic systems. These new products offer clean compact solutions either connected directly to the main power source or as part of a branch circuit feeding one of many work cells.

The double redundant dual monitoring valve package is built with two valves. Both must be activated to allow fluid and pressure to continue to the circuit. If either valve is deactivated, the outlet port is directed back to tank. The valves incorporate spool position monitoring switches and two pressure tap ports. This allows users to monitor the spool position and monitor whether pressure is rising or falling. This information can be used by system monitor controllers to alert of system failure or shut the machine off.

Lock-out valves are designed to assist in meeting lock-out/tag-out requirements to protect technicians performing maintenance, repairs or set-up operations where a central hydraulic system is providing power to multiple work cells.

The PO*MSV line of stackable, adjustable, pressure compensator valves are used to create a constant pressure differential between the inlet and outlet of proportional valves. PO*MSV valves control pressure drop by sensing the pressure in the A & B outlet ports, which is added to the adjustable spring setting, causing the valve to open or close to help maintain a constant pressure drop. PO*MSV valves are available in both restrictive and by-pass styles, for either variable or fixed delivery circuits. PO*MSV valves improve system performance when widely changing loads are seen. The valves can be added to any existing manifold mounted valves where system enhancements may be required. Benefits of the PO*MSV modular stack design includes: space saving compared to in-line mounting valves, zero leaks through O-ring sealed installation and installation labor and material cost savings.

VED05M proportional control valves with an on-board electronic amplifier and hall-effect spool position sensor are ideal for closed spool inner loop operation. The on-board electronic amplifier is packaged within a fully potted, anodized aluminum housing providing a minimum of IP65 environmental protection. The new VED05M valves are shipped with all set points preset at the factory to catalog specification allowing immediate out-of-the-box installation and operation. All factory settings are easily changed through a user-friendly, windows based, graphic user interface allowing the VED05M to be tailored to customer specifications. The VED05M valve is offered with numerous spool flow ranges, load metering styles and various spring center conditions enabling users to buy valves that will match their needs off-the-shelf, without customization. All of the VED05M components are replaceable in the field, eliminating the need to send the valves back to the factory for servicing and/or the need to stock a spare valve for backup.

The F0*MSV line of stackable, two-speed hydraulic control valves feature a direct operated cartridge-type electrical operated poppet that allows high flow-through or restricted adjustable flow-through. They are available in a variety of coil voltages, and either normally-open or normally-closed cartridges, to meet specific user requirements. The FO*MSV hydraulic valves can be added to any existing manifold mounted valves where system enhancements may be required. Benefits of the FO*MSV modular valve line includes: space savings compared to in-line mounted valves, zero fluid leaks through O-ring sealed installation, and installation labor and material cost savings.

Continental Hydraulics designs and manufactures high-performance, robust hydraulic pumps, valves and power units for a wide variety of mobile and industrial applications. Every Continental product is rigorously tested in the lab and in the field in normal and under severe conditions to help it meet or exceed established performance and service life standards. The Company has over 40 years experience supplying standard and custom-order hydraulic components quickly and efficiently, helping shorten time-to-market cycles. Continental Hydraulics products are available globally through an independent distribution network.
