Palisade Systems Announces First All-In-One Content Filtering Appliance to Audit, Block, Encrypt and Report Sensitive Data Being Sent Outside The Network

Palisade's PacketSure 5.0 Appliance Only Solution Amongst Competition that Includes Auditing, Blocking, Encryption and Reporting of Sensitive Data Under One Product

AMES, Iowa, Dec. 11 /-- Palisade Systems, a leading provider of content monitoring, filtering and encryption appliances, today announced that its PacketSure appliance is the only competitive solution within the content monitoring and filtering market to offer a single-product solution for auditing, blocking, encrypting, and reporting of sensitive data for small to large size enterprises.

"Organizations that transmit sensitive data such as health care records or credit card numbers now have an option for the first time to purchase a single-product solution to ensure protection of that outgoing data," said Kurt Shedenhelm, CEO and president of Palisade Systems. "No other single product on the market can audit, block, encrypt and report sensitive data that employees are trying to send outside their organization's network. By deploying PacketSure 5.0, organizations can avoid having to purchase costly, multiple solutions to perform the same functionality."

Intercepting sensitive data
Unlike previous technologies that are limited to only monitoring structured data like Social Security Numbers through pattern or data matching, Palisade's PacketSure product, for example, is able to identify a Social Security Number and stop it from being sent even when the number is hidden in a document filled with other content.

PacketSure uses the following multi-layered approach for inspecting network communications for confidential information and data theft:
o The Extended Regular Expression (ERE) layer identifies structured data, such as social security numbers, account numbers, or phone numbers by pattern matching.
o The Content Matching layer identifies structured data by direct matching.
o The Content Learning layer identifies unstructured data, such as intellectual property, product pricing, patent information, or source code, and monitors changes to documents that contain the information. The Content Learning layer is a self-adapting layer that is able to classify each organization's proprietary unstructured data as public or private.
o The Keyword Matching layer allows organizations to enter specific key words and identify those key words across all protocols.
