Sage Software Launches Sage Timberline Office Version 9.4 Offering Faster Deployment Functions, Integration Efficiencies and Improved Estimating Features

Dozens of Enhancements Added to Award-Winning Construction and Real Estate Solution, Including Time Saving Shortcuts and Automation Tools

Beaverton, Ore. - Sept 18, 2006 -- Sage Software announced today the availability of version 9.4 of its award-winning Sage Timberline Office integrated financial and operations software for construction and real estate industries. This latest version includes dozens of performance enhancements and integration efficiencies, such as Setup Wizards and estimating database tools.

"New clients will be quickly impressed with the ease of installation and our existing clients will want to upgrade to this version because there are so many improvements based on best practices and feedback from Sage Timberline Office customers," said John Geffel, Sage Software senior vice president and general manager, Construction and Real Estate division.

Highlights of the more than two dozen major improvements in Sage Timberline Office 9.4 include:

Faster implementation via set-up wizards: New Setup Central tools walk users through the steps necessary to get up and running.
Easier access to key tasks via Job Central: Working directly from the Sage Timberline Office Desktop, a quick launch platform lets users easily set up common jobs and contracts from one convenient location.
Instant Integration: Workflow Centers integrate business processes and provide intuitive access to frequently performed tasks, such as check printing and invoice entry, cutting steps and improving efficiency.
Improved module integration: The Residential Management module now offers seamless integration of data with the Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Cash Management modules.
One-time entry: The Document Management module now allows a single point of entry for jobs -- linking scanned invoices directly with accounts payable data.
Automated database setup: Structuring and building an estimating database has never been so easy. A new database builder wizard takes users through the process, allowing them to take full advantage of the software benefits sooner.
New Residential Knowledge Base: With more than 9,000 items, 63 assemblies and 29 models specific to residential builders.
Estimating database maintenance efficiencies: The ability to instantly update databases from estimates, improvements in adding and updating "one-time" items and a 60 percent increase in database categories are just a few of the new features that help make Estimating easier for users.

The new method of keeping database pricing current drew enthusiastic applause when announced at a recent Sage Timberline Office customer conference.

"If you have 10,000 items in your database, keeping pricing current is a huge job - imagine the keystrokes necessary to change each item individually," said Gary Simpson, Sage Software estimating product director. "With this release we've added the ability to automatically and instantly save information from your estimate back to the database which saves a lot of time and really simplifies database maintenance. Less time doing maintenance leaves more time to crank out winning bids."

Sage Timberline Office is used by more than 20,000 clients, including leading commercial, industrial, residential and specialty contractors; real estate developers and managers; residential builders; government institutions and a variety of corporations.

Integration in action

HFH Ltd, a property management company that adopted Sage Timberline Office in 1999, and has been expanding its usage ever since, now uses the software to perform all accounting processes involved in property management, including general ledger, billing, check writing, bank reconciliation and financial statements. Twice the firm has won a "Toby Award," or Building of the Year, from the Building Owners and Management Association (BOMA) for its management of Allied Plaza in San Diego, Calif.

HFH property manager Mary Youngman, RPA, credits efficiencies in Sage Timberline Office with helping cut report time from 20 hours a week to a few minutes, producing checks in 80 percent less time and cutting bank reconciliation time in half.

"The integration of Sage Timberline Office modules is wonderful," says Youngman. "It is surprisingly easy to get back and forth between modules. Also, I've been able to customize the software quickly to meet our specific needs, without having to go through weeks of training."
