Reell MH Series Constant-Torque Hinges Position Objects Through 360 Degrees

ST. PAUL, MN - The new MH20 and MH40 constant-torque hinges from Reell Precision Manufacturing are ideal for controlling motion in applications that involve positioning an object through 360 degrees of rotation. Designed to provide smooth action and a quality feel, the hinges deliver a useful life of 20,000 cycles with no backlash and a typical spring-back of less than 1 degree. Available in load capacities that range from 1.7 lb-in to 36.5 lb-in, the hinges feature engineered plastic housings that provide corrosion resistance in applications such as office equipment, medical cabinets, computer peripherals, access panels, industrial enclosures and equipment guards. Reell also designs and manufactures custom constant-torque friction hinges with up to 80 lb-in torque ratings.

The torque (or friction) is developed by Reell's patented clip technology that uses C-shaped clips to grip a hardened steel hinge shaft to provide a smooth, flowing feel and consistent torque over the life of the hinge. The amount of torque produced is proportional to the shaft diameter and the number of clips applied, and is constant throughout 360 degrees of rotation. The MH40 hinge is available with specific torque ratings of 15.6, 22.5, 26.1, 29.5, 33 and 36.5 lb-in. The MH20 is available with specific torque ratings of 1.7, 3.4, 5.2, 6.9 and 8.6 lb-in.

The MH40 has an outside housing diameter of 0.591 inches (15 mm) and an overall length of 1.398 inches (35.5 mm). The MH20 has an outside housing diameter of 0.394 inches (10 mm) and a length of 1.149 inches ( 29.2 mm).
