Constant Temperature Storage Cabinet for Testing Automotive Batteries

SANDUSKY, OH – LEWCO, Inc. recently delivered a Constant Temperature Cabinet to a company specializing in the development of batteries for electric vehicles. The customer’s process required a steady state temperature environment to hold for several weeks, while testing batteries.  The cabinet is designed to hold the internal temperature between 70°F and 90°F at all times.  The unique HVAC system, wired with a Honeywell temperature controller, automatically switches between heating and cooling as required to maintain temperature.

The equipment is fully portable and operates on 240V, 1-phase electric.  A full voltage disconnect switch was included. The back wall of the Constant Temperature Cabinet included (6) pass through ports with caps for the customer’s instrumentation during test runs. Another unique feature for this cabinet is heavy-duty bar grating shelves to support the large weight of the batteries and still permit free airflow throughout the cabinet.

LEWCO originally developed its line of low temperature steady state cabinets for storage of critical temperature sensitive products, such as Velcorin, used in the beverage industry.  However, LEWCO’s Application Engineers are quickly finding other uses for this equipment. If you have an application that requires low temperature controlled storage, contact one of our Applications Engineers today to learn how LEWCO can help!
