Mouser Electronics Announces New JAE Connector Series Available

Smaller Size Minimizes Mounting Space for Portable Applications

Mansfield, Texas, USA - May 22, 2007 - Mouser Electronics, Inc., known for rapid new product introduction, today announced it has expanded its JAE connector portfolio to include the new SG5, SC2, ST1, and ST2 Series of SD Connectors and miniSD(TM) memory cards from JAE.

"Both the design engineering community and our suppliers rely on Mouser to supply the newest products available to the marketplace," according to Barry McConnell, Mouser Vice President of Product Marketing, "and by stocking new products like these from JAE, Mouser is able to fulfill its commitment to both suppliers and design engineers alike."

JAE Electronics offers a wide selection of connectors ranging from circular, board-to-board, and wire-to-board, to DIMM memory, memory card, as well as FPC connectors, and is known for its continuous introduction of new products.

Standardized by SDA(TM) (SD Card Association), the SG5, SC2, ST1, and ST2 connectors are ideal for various portable devices such as mobile phones. The SG5, SC2, and ST2 series feature a push-push structure for minimized mounting space and the ST1 series features a push-slide hinge structure. These devices have a card insertion detection switch and a lock structure to prevent the card from falling out.

Requiring ten percent less board space than existing connectors, the SG5 series for SD cards has a hot plug structure wherein two of the nine terminals come in contact with the card pad, as well as a card insertion structure where one terminal comes in contact at insertion. Additional features include automatic mounting with tray, positioning boss at mounting board, and an insertable multimedia card.

The SC2 series of one-piece connectors for the outer terminal of miniSD(TM) cards has high density SMT mounting and well-balanced shield characteristics ensured by four H/D connection points. The series features contact for power with a live-insertion structure and an intermittent discontinuity countermeasure.

The ST1 series of one-piece external connectors is compatible with TransFlash(TM) (microSD(TM)) cards, has a shield characteristic secured by four ground connection points on the hinge cover, and covers the card for drop/shock strength.

Compatible to automatic mounting, the ST2 series has 1mm push stroke and 3.3mm card eject length, a shield characteristic secured by four ground connection points, and a metallic eject bar that ensures the card is ejected.

All four series feature a rated current of 0.5A, dielectric withstanding voltage of 500VACr.m.s. (for 1 minute), maximum contact resistance of 100 milliohms, minimum insulation resistance of 1,000 megohms, an operating temperature of -25˚C to +85˚C, and 10,000 cycles durability.
