SMC connectors now available in 68 and 80 position for cost effective backplane rear I/O
Moraga, CA - January 28, 2003 - ERNI Components, Inc. recently expanded its line of Small Multiple Connectors (SMC) to include high-density 68 and 80 position. The SMC connector system is designed for flexible board-to-board stack heights for customized sub-assembly solutions. It's excellent alignment characteristic is ideal for the multiple uses of connectors on one PCB where the signals can be split instead of running all signals to one end of the board. This results in excellent stability and board retention characteristics. ERNI's quality manufacturing techniques utilize fully automated manufacturing equipment and vision inspection equipment for maintaining co planarity.
SMC Features
High-density 68 and 80 position SMC connectors are now available in vertical male and female and right angle male. Designed with a 1.27mm x 1.27mm grid, and manufactured with high temperature LCP insulator material, these connectors are guaranteed for 500 mating cycles. Termination options include SMT, Pressfit and IDC technology. Board to board and board to cable solutions are available. An integrated metal SMT mounting clip ensures a reliable connection to the board. The 68 position male and female connectors are also available in low profile versions. Allowing for a completely automated assembly process, these connectors are available in tape & reel and with a cover, for automatic pick & place.
