New Wire-to-Wire Connector System Reduces Cost and Intermates
HARRISBURG, Pa., April 2 - Tyco Electronics today released the AMP 4.2 mm Power Economy (PE) series connector system. The new design is for wire to wire applications that require 4.2 mm x 4.2 mm centerline spacing. The plastic connector easily mates and unmates while maintaining a positive-latch design. The 4.2 PE is available in 2-24 positions and accommodates a receptacle housing and either a panel mount or free hanging plug housing. While the connector mates with AMP-DUAC connectors and other compatible designs, the 4.2 PE is lower priced. The 4.2 PE is suitable for wire harness assemblies used in vending machines, appliances, gaming products and other industrial / commercial products.
The 4.2 PE is rated for 600 VAC and nine amps maximum (in a 2-position configuration). Durability is rated at 50 mating cycles. The connector housing is constructed of UL 94V-2 nylon with tin-plated brass contacts.
