Original Press Release:

Triad Differential Pair Connectors from Molex Offer Long-Term, Reliable Performance

Achieve bandwidths up to 5.0 Gigabits per second (Gbps) and beyond with the TDP(TM) (Triad Differential Pair) connector line from Molex Incorporated. This connector features an innovative triad contact configuration of differential signal and ground lines, which optimizes bandwidth. It has a shielded, dual-row, cable-to-board interface for high-speed performance and 100-ohm controlled impedance. Applications for this product include LVDS servers, routers, switches, storage and network equipment, TMDS digital displays, portable DVI devices, automotive displays and multiple high-speed, differential-pair signal equipment.

This connector's Low Force Helix(TM) contact design offers reliable performance and a shallow mating angle to reduce insertion force. The recessed contacts protect signal lines from Electro Static Discharge (ESD), support mating alignment and provide added contact protection during handling.

Molex's TDP connector family is available in circuit sizes 18, 28, 38, 48 and 72, with capability of other select circuit sizes, ranging from 10 to 80 circuits. The inline SMT receptacle optimizes PCB routing and the low 7.00mm (.276") profile makes this connector ideal for applications where height is a major consideration. TDP cable plugs feature jackscrews for mating retention.

Pricing for Molex's TDP connector line depends on quantity, circuit size and configuration. For example, when purchased in quantities of 1,000, the 18-circuit right-angle board-mount receptacle costs $3.84 each. Lead time is typically four to six weeks.
