Original Press Release:

1.25mm (.049") Pitch Mini MiII(TM) Connectors From Molex Provide Space Savings For Wire Harnessing

The new 1.25mm (.049") pitch Mini MiII(TM) wire harnessing connector system from Molex saves about 45% of pcb real-estate compared to similar 2.00mm (.079") pitch versions for applications such as printers, home appliances and automotive
telematics. The system can carry 1.5 amperes of current to meet typical industry standard requirements for office automation and other complex multi-branch harnessing needs. It is available in wire-to-board and wire-to-wire configurations in 2 to 20 circuits for single row and 10 to 40 circuits for dual row.

Mini MiII features a common single-row IDT receptacle that provides cost-effective mass termination of discrete wire. The receptacle is designed for easy handling and has guide slots to facilitate wire placement. Side ribs provide polarization and lock into a clip for dual-row configurations.

Header options include single or dual row, SMT or through-hole, and vertical or right-angle. The through-hole versions feature a space-saving staggered-pitch pcb layout and an inner positive lock that provides secure mating and latch protection. Other features of the through-hole styles include a raised plafform to protect against flux wicking and kinked outer tails for pcb retention. SMT headers feature extended outer side walls to protect SMT tails and polarized inner side walls to facilitate mating. A friction lock feature includes an audible click to confirm mating.

For panel-mount applications, Mini MiII includes both single and dual-row panel pin adapters that accept the IDT receptacle on each side. Both versions include spring-type locking ears for panel retention and inner positive locks for easy mating and latch protection.

All of the Mini MiII products are tin-plated and rated at 1.5 amperes and 100 Volts. A full range of automatic, semi-automatic and manual IDT tooling is available.

Pricing for the Mini MiII connectors depends on circuit size, configuration and quantity purchased. For example, when purchased in quantities of 10,000, a 10 circuit receptacle and header would cost 40 cents per mated pair. Typically, lead time is 8 to 10 weeks.
