Connector allows noise-immune CANbus communication.

Press Release Summary:

CAN-OPTOkit connects CAN networks up to 1,000 ft apart by fiber optic cable. CAN-OPTOconv module converts CAN messages from modified CAN interface and sends them via fiber optic cable to CAN-OPTOtrans module. CAN-OPTOtrans converts optical CAN messages into standard electrical CAN, connected to copper-based CAN network cabling. CAN-OPTOkit is available for ISA, PCI, CompactPCI, and VMEbus systems using Janz' MODULbus CAN interface VMOD-ICAN3.

Original Press Release:

CAN-OPTOkit For Noise-Immune CANbus Communication!

Pittsford, New York. The new CAN-OPTOkit is a unique solution for connecting CAN networks up to 1000 feet apart by fiber optic cable. CAN-OPTOkit includes a CAN-OPTOconv module and a CAN-OPTOtrans module (which normally come as a pair).

CAN-OPTOconv module converts CAN messages from a modified CAN interface and sends them via the fiber optic cable to the CAN-OPTOtrans module. CAN-OPTOtrans converts the optical CAN messages into standard electrical CAN, connected to the copper-based CAN network cabling.

CAN-OPTOkit was developed for special environments requiring isolated and noise immune links for CAN messages. CAN-OPTOkit was not, however, developed for really long distance low speed networks, and is only usable with the special Janz CANbus host interface CAN-OPTOtrans.

Available now for ISA, PCI, CompactPCI and VMEbus systems using Janz' MODULbus CAN interface VMOD-ICAN3, but adaptation to PC/104 or PMC interfaces is possible on request.

CAN-OPTOkit is available now starting at $969.00 from Saelig Co. Inc. NY 585-385-1750; 585-385-1768fax; info@saelig.com; www.saelig.com).
