PTi Launches New G-Series® Configurable Roll Stand at NPE 2015

Breakthrough System Delivers Greater Flexibility, Reduced Downtime for System Modifications

AURORA, Ill., – Processing Technologies International, LLC (PTi), a leading global manufacturer of high-performance sheet extrusion machinery, has launched the G-Series® Configurable roll stand which permits greater flexibility and significantly reduced downtime for system modifications. The new roll stand will be unveiled at NPE2015: The International Plastics Showcase (Booth #W4182) March 23-27 in Orlando, Fla.

The next-generation system sets a new industry standard because of its innovative and visionary design. The G-Series® Configurable Model GCH661824 employs a unique design concept which enables easy downstream configuration changes for inline thermoforming and roll stock applications. “We’ve broken new ground by developing a unique product that delivers the ultimate flexibility and versatility for extrusion systems, enabling scalable systems that evolve with changing customer demands,” said Matt Banach, vice president of sales and marketing for PTi.

The new roll stand simplifies future expansion and utilization of extrusion systems for sheet. The G-Series® Configurable roll stand boasts modular systems which facilitate rapid downstream configuration changes. Previous custom roll stands often require modifications taking weeks and sometimes months. Now, that process can take just hours as processors add another piece of equipment or make other modifications with minimal re-engineering and reduced downtime, according to Banach.

Among the key advantages is a configurable frame which allows other downstream modules to be added without any cutting, welding, or machining. The length of the module can be adjusted, increasing or decreasing the distance between the main roll stack and the pull roll. This feature permits incorporation of new components including, but not limited to, additional cooling, surface treatment, slitting, and gauging stations. This also enables manufacturers to change the order of downstream operations within a system as well as the potential of sharing modules between other compatible G-Series® Configurable systems.

The G-Series® Configurable roll stand also allows for easy integration of utilities such as electrical, water, and compressed air. An integral energy chain allows utilities to be easily repositioned due to the system’s configurable elements.

Other standard patented G-Series® features on the GCH661824 roll stand include linear bearing system positioning, ratcheting vertical nip height adjustment, mechanical roll lock-out, and transfer roll coating for top and/or bottom side application. This system also includes PTi’s high-performance modulating water circuits. Internally positioned energy tracks permit open-side access and catwalks allow for easy operator access.

The G-Series® Configurable roll stand is commercially available in vertical up/down, J-stack, or horizontal configurations.
