Comprehensive Control Via Extended Synoptic Overview

Bosch introduces important enhancements to its DCN conference software

  • Interpreter microphones can be fully configured remotely by the operator including microphone sensitivities
  • New 'speak-slowly' and 'help' indicators available in synoptic overview

Bosch Security Systems is enhancing the control software for its Digital Congress Network (DCN) conference systems with a new simultaneous interpretation module offering extended functionality.

The Conference Software Suite already featured an advanced yet intuitive user interface that significantly enhanced the versatility and ease-of-use of the company's DCN Next Generation and DCN Wireless systems. The suite embodied powerful interface options to increase the ergonomics of setting up and managing meetings, ensuring that they run as smoothly as possible.

With the introduction of the new simultaneous interpretation module, the functionality has now been extended to include interpreter desks in the synoptic overview. Each interpreter desk can easily be configured remotely by an operator and is now displayed on the operator's PC monitor. This enables the operator to remotely monitor the interpreter's activity and control each interpreter's microphone simply by clicking on the appropriate icon. Control options include remotely switching individual interpreters' microphones on or off during a session and adjusting the microphone sensitivity to accommodate interpreters with soft or loud voices. The new software also features a 'speak slowly' indicator in the synoptic view, enabling the interpreter to alert the speaker to slow down if he or she is speaking too quickly. In addition, a help function has been added to the synoptic overview for both the interpreter desks and the delegate units, enabling individuals to request help from the operator or clerk if they encounter difficulties.

The new software is also compatible with Windows 7 with a modern user interface optimized for touch-screen control - making managing the system in real-time as intuitive as possible. Moreover, with the new enhancements, the synoptic overview now gives a complete summary of activity within the conference chamber, including which interpreter desks are in operation and the chosen language channel, which delegate is speaking and which delegates are in the request to speak list.

As with the earlier release, the software comes as a modular package which means that customers only pay for the functionality they require.
