Press Release Summary:
Part of Hybricon® family, 6-slot 3U OpenVPX SFF-6 Small Form Factor Chassis is equipped with CoolWall(TM) thermal technology to support system heat dissipation up to 400 W. ATR-style unit, fabricated from mixture of composite materials and aluminum, facilitates integration of low-power embedded COTS subsystems designed for use in space-, weight-, and power-constrained military environments. Unit includes military power supply for MIL-STD-704F aircraft or vehicle use.
Original Press Release:
Curtiss-Wright Controls Electronic Systems' New Small Form Factor Conduction Cooled Chassis Features CoolWall(TM) Technology
LITTLETON, MA - Curtiss-Wright Controls Electronic Systems (CWCEL), a business group of Curtiss-Wright Controls and a leading designer and manufacturer of rugged deployed subsystems for the aerospace and defense market, has introduced a new, rugged 6-slot 3U OpenVPX (or 7-slot 3U CompactPCI) conduction cooled chassis for harsh military environments. The SFF-6 Small Form Factor Chassis is the newest member of CWCEL's Hybricon® family of advanced military COTS electronic packaging solutions and features the company's unique CoolWall(TM) thermal technology (patent pending) to support system heat dissipation up to 400W. This ATR-style chassis, fabricated from a proprietary mixture of composite materials and aluminum, speeds and simplifies the integration
of high performance, low-power embedded COTS subsystems designed for use in space,
weight and power (SWaP)-constrained military environments.
"Curtiss-Wright Controls' Hybricon CoolWall thermal technology is a breakthrough in chassis thermal design," said David Dietz, vice president and general manager of Curtiss-Wright Controls Electronic Systems group. "The SFF-6 uses CoolWall to hit the sweet spot for size, weight, power and cost-constrained embedded applications that demand maximum performance in a low weight, small form factor rugged enclosure."
SFF-6 Performance Features:
o Supports cooling for 6-slot 3U OpenVPX (or 7-slot CompactPCI) 400 W payload
o Chassis fabricated from a proprietary mixture of composites and aluminum
o Patent pending CoolWall technology provides significantly higher thermal conductivity
than aluminum at lighter weight.
o ATR-style small form factor baseplate conduction-cooled chassis
o Designed for rugged airborne and ground mobile application environments
o Extended temperature, shock & vibration tolerance
o Military power supply for MIL-STD-704F aircraft or vehicle use
o Supports 6-slot OpenVPX, VPX-REDI 1"pitch backplane
o Designed to the latest OpenVPX, VPX and REDI draft specifications
o Custom configurations and integration available (contact Factory)
