Condenser supports data center cooling units.

Press Release Summary:

Liebert TCDV air-cooled, direct-drive refrigeration condenser, suited for cooling systems with dual refrigeration circuits, features variable-frequency drive that controls speed of primary fan based on refrigerant pressure variations. Pressure control can be maintained for outdoor ambient temperatures as low as -20°F, and unit can respond to changes as small as ±1°F and ±1% RH. Condenser also features transient voltage surge suppression to protect electronics.

Emerson Network Power Extends Heat Rejection Product Line with Energy-Efficient Liebert TCDV Condenser

Condenser's variable frequency drive (VFD) delivers lower total cost of ownership and enhanced reliability than other fan speed options

Columbus, Ohio [February 8, 2007] - Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity(TM), today introduced the Liebert TCDV, an air-cooled, direct-drive refrigeration condenser for use with Liebert precision cooling systems with dual refrigeration circuits, including the Liebert DS(TM).

The Liebert TCDV supports precision cooling units operating in a data center, or other controlled environment, by providing reliable and efficient heat rejection. Using a variable-frequency drive, the Liebert TCDV enables energy savings of up to 10 percent compared to the fan-speed condensers.

The factory-programmed VFD in the Liebert TCDV precisely controls the speed of the primary fan based on refrigerant pressure variations to maintain a consistent and efficient condensing temperature. Reliable pressure transducers sense these refrigerant pressure variations that result from changing outdoor ambients and compressor unloading common to digital scroll compressors in Liebert DS and semi-hermetic compressors with cylinder unloaders found in both the Liebert DS and Liebert Deluxe. The Liebert TCDV can maintain pressure control for outdoor ambient temperatures as low as -20F (-29C).

The new condenser also features transient voltage surge suppression (TVSS), which increases condenser reliability by protecting system electronics from damage from transient surges from unconditioned power sources and atmospheric discharges.

"The Liebert TDCV gives our customers a more efficient and flexible heat rejection option for use with the Liebert DS system," said Bob Spengler, Liebert small systems and heat rejection product manager for Emerson Network Power. "It can deliver potential energy savings of 70 percent compared to Lee-Temp condensers and 10 percent compared to traditional fan speed condensers. Working with the highly efficient variable-capacity Liebert DS precision cooling system, the Liebert TCDV can significantly contribute to reducing data center cooling costs."

The Liebert DS is the first and only precision cooling system to use digital scroll compressors, which allow unit capacities to quickly adapt to changing room conditions, creating significant energy savings and better protection of business-critical applications. It can respond to changes as small as +/- 1 degree Fahrenheit and +/- 1 percent relative humidity.
