Quantum3D Expands Thermite Tactical Visual Computer Family

New Thermite TVC-2.0 Models Optimized for Vehicle-Mount, Rapid Insertion-and-Removal and Man-Wearable Deployed Visual Computing Applications

FORT LAUDERDALE, AUSA Winter-March 8, 2007-Quantum3D, Inc., a leading provider of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS), open-architecture, realtime visual computing solutions, today announced that three new small form-factor computers, Models 6300, 3500 and TL, will join the Thermite TVC-2.0 family, which currently includes the Model 1000 and Model 2000 series units-both of which have been widely adopted for deployed visual computing applications. These multi-role, realtime, 2D/3D COTS Tactical Visual Computers (TVCs) have been specifically designed to support realtime visual computing applications in both vehicle-based and man-wearable deployed environments.

Thermite TVC-2.0 6300 with VMD

Thermite TVC-2.0 Model 6300. The Thermite TVC-2.0 6300 was designed for operation in ground vehicles, aircraft and naval vessels where Mil-Spec ruggedization and rapid insertion-and-removal capabilities for security and mission-specific data updates are required. The Model 6300 operates in conjunction with a companion Vehicle Mounting Dock (VMD) which features an integral, rugged blind-mate connector and a host of available vehicle-specific I/O capabilities, including Mil-Std-1553A/B and CANBUS, and a range of rotating and solid-state drive options. The Model 6300 may be quickly removed with one hand, allowing the entire unit to be secured or replaced easily. In addition to conforming to Mil-Std-810F and 461E, the Model 6300 also conforms to Mil-Std-1275B and 704, which enables the unit to operate with military standard 28-VDC vehicle power. The Model 6300 also features advanced video capture and display and 2D/3D graphics capabilities that make the model ideal for vehicle-based weapons systems control, surveillance, sensor fusion, mission planning and rehearsal, and embedded training missions. The Model 6300 has been adopted by leading systems integrators for ground vehicle and airborne command post applications.

Thermite TVC-2.0 Model 3500. The Thermite TVC-2.0 3500 is optimized for vehicle-based visual computing applications where fixed mounting options are permissible and mounting space, power and weight are at a premium. The Model 3500 features advanced 2D/3D graphics and video capture and display capabilities, and it is optimized for visual computing-intensive deployed C4ISR, mission planning and rehearsal, embedded training, UAV/UGV and weapon system control, and 2D/3D-augmented reality-based maintenance deployed applications. The Model 3500 has many of Model 6300's attributes, including comprehensive standard and optional I/O capabilities, solid-state drive options and support for 28-VDC vehicle power. The Model 3500 has recently been selected by General Dynamics Land Systems - Amphibious Systems for the USMC Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV) Embedded Training Demonstrator.

Thermite TVC-2.0 Model TL. The Thermite TVC-2.0 TL is the smallest TVC on the market today. The small form factor and weight (0.75 kg) of the Thermite TVC-2.0 Model TL, combined with its PC compatibility and unique video and graphics capabilities, makes the TL ideal for man-wearable 2D/3D graphics and video-intensive deployed C4ISR, UAV/UGV control, mission planning, mission rehearsal, biometric and 2D/3D-augmented reality-based maintenance deployed applications. By combining state-of-the-art embedded computing, mobile graphics, extended-environment packaging and conduction cooling technologies with support for open-architecture operating systems, the Thermite TL sets a new standard for mobility, long battery life, ruggedization and realtime visualization capabilities in a man-wearable computer. The TL is available with an optional Quantum3D Farsight 3.7" Daylight/Low-Light Hand-Held Touch-Screen VGA display and control device which uniquely incorporates low power consumption and a small footprint to satisfy a broad range of requirements for command-and-control interfaces and local visual display capabilities.

"Quantum3D is proud to introduce these new Thermite models at AUSA," said Ross Q. Smith, Quantum3D co-founder and president. "Quantum3D's COTS tactical visual solutions are optimized to support the Army's expanding array of realtime visual computing missions deployed today and planned for deployment in the future. We look forward to continuing to support our troops by bringing the power of PC-based workstations to the battlefield through these new Thermite models and our other embedded visual computing product offerings," he added.

About Thermite

The Thermite TVC is the first multi-role, small form-factor, COTS TVC specifically designed to enable PC-based embedded training, mission rehearsal, C4ISR and C2 applications to be deployed in both vehicle-based and man-wearable extended environments. The Thermite TVC supports open-architecture PC operating systems and features advanced embedded computing, mobile graphics, video capture and display, low-power consumption for long battery life, and extensive I/O in a lightweight, conduction-cooled, alloy enclosure for operation in Mil-Std-810F and Mil-Std-461E extended environments. These capabilities allow system integrators to rapidly bring the power of PC-based workstation applications to the deployed environments for U.S. and allied military, civilian and commercial applications. The Thermite TVC-2.0 TL features an entry-level international price of $5,750 USD. Volume orders and other models and configurations are subject to different pricing and discounts.
