Eching/Nuremberg, Germany, November 28, 2007 - Today, at the SPS/IPC/Drives in Nuremberg, Germany (Hall 7 / Stand 7-306), Kontron launched its COM ExpressTM compliant Kontron ETXexpress®-CD computer-on-modules with Dual Channel Memory support.
The Kontron ETXexpress-CD follows the ETXexpress-MC to become Kontron's second COM Express compliant computer-on-module (COM) with support for up to 4GByte Dual Channel Memory via two 533MHz or 667MHz DDR2 SO-DIMM sockets. Therefore, these modules are ideal for the latest generation of performance-hungry applications that require high levels of data processing. Extreme data processing capacities are needed especially by applications running (a)synchronous multiprocessing and/or virtualization technologies.
For applications requiring the latest, high-end dual core performance up to 2 GHz, the Kontron ETXexpress-CD computer-on-module with support for up to 4GBytes of Dual Channel Memory is the perfect choice. Kontron's ETXexpress-CD module is equipped with the Intel® Core(TM) Duo processor T2500, the Mobile Intel 945GM Express chipset and the ICH7M Southbridge. For ultimate performance, the new COM Express compliant Kontron ETXexpress-MC with the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors up to 2.2GHz and Intel 965GM Express chipset with 800 MHz FSB as well as Dual Channel Memory, is the most powerful member of Kontron's proven ETXexpress range of computer-on-modules.
Since the clock speed can be dynamically reduced according to the operating workload, both the ETXexpress-MC and ETXexpress-CD computer-on-modules also are a perfect fit for temperature and power-sensitive embedded applications. Additionally, the Kontron ETXexpress-MC design allows the processor to go into a deeper sleep state for even greater power efficiency. The inclusion of onboard TPM 1.2 makes this Kontron dual core computer-on-module the superior choice for applications that call for enhanced security options.
Extensive I/O flexibility for both Kontron computer-on-modules is provided by 5x PCI Express x1 lanes, 3x SerialATA ports and 8x USB 2.0 ports along with Gigabit Ethernet. All the Kontron ETXexpress computer-on-modules provide PCI Express, PCI 32, USB 2.0 and SerialATA that remain in the same physical positions on each module, guaranteeing scalability within the product family. An Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) for optimized power management comes as a standard feature.
Both new Kontron COM Express compliant computer-on-modules support Windows XP, 2000, XPe, CE and Linux operating systems.
