Rexroth Introduces IndraMotion MTX Compact CNC Platform

Space-saving, rack-mounted version for distributed control systems

The IndraMotion MTX compact is a CNC solution for high production machining centers, handling systems, or simple auxiliary units.

Bosch Rexroth has extended its CNC offering with a new rack-mounted compact version of its popular IndraMotion MTX CNC platform.

The MTX compact provides high performance in a very small footprint while improving machine cycle times and part quality. It controls up to eight axes in two NC channels with a fast IndraLogic PLC. It can process up to 200 NC blocks per second and has a 30 block look-ahead rate to achieve shorter machine cycle times. Like other MTX versions, the compact version can be used for milling, turning, grinding, automation and other applications with up to four axis simultaneous interpolation.

This ultra-compact cost-effective solution for small CNC machines, networked multi-station transfer machines and flexible cells provides scalable performance and functionality with open system architecture, all programmed with the uniform Rexroth IndraWorks engineering software.

The MTX compact offers an economic benefit by allowing equipment with multiple stations, such as rotary and linear transfer machines and flexible compact cells, to be designed by networking multiple MTX compact modules to a single PC-based HMI at the head station or zone controller main station. For low-cost or compact machines, the MTX compact can be combined with a large range of Rexroth IndraControl V embedded or PC-based HMI systems. The control system has eight high-speed inputs and outputs on board with the capacity to attach inline cards to expand local I/O and interfaces.

The module's simple operation and programming are also complemented by network communication via Ethernet TCP/IP or standard fieldbuses such as Profibus DP, DeviceNet and Ethernet/IP adapter. The MTX compact comes with SERCOS drive communication, a full Profibus DP master/slave interface, local fast I/O and one Ethernet interface port.

The IndraMotion MTX compact is commissioned with the Rexroth IndraWorks software, which is uniform with all the Indra platform products. This engineering software provides all the tools for programming, start-up and machine HMI screen creation in a single program, reducing training, installation and integration costs.
