August 14, 2009 - Octagon Systems announced today, the Fleet CORE(TM), a ruggedized computer solution for mobile applications requiring GPS and wireless capabilities. The low power 1.6 GHz Intel® ATOM(TM) N270 CPU provides high processing power for real time applications. The total integrated thermal design provides fanless operation over a -25°C to 70°C temperature range.
The Fleet CORE incorporates the field-proven, Octagon Hedgehog© power supply technology
providing superior protection from the severe transients common in mobile power systems, while remaining ATX compatible.
Markets
The versatility, reliability and processing power of the Fleet CORE make it suitable for police, taxi, medical, trucking, transit systems and mesh security networks. The Gigabit Ethernet can handle up to four security cameras while performing communications functions. WiFi and GSM radios can readily be added to increase its wireless capabilities.

The Fleet CORE is compatible with many operating systems, including Linux, XP and XPe.
Linux and XPe can be supplied pre-installed and configured under OEM contract. The user or Octagon can customize the Fleet CORE with the addition of PC/104 Plus, Mini PCI and Mini PCIe modules.
