Compressor Valves perform at medium and high lifts.

Press Release Summary:

CE profiled ring valves have thermoplastic sealing elements reinforced with carbon fibers. Stiction effects at valve opening are countered by convex shape of ring profile mating to beveled seat profile. Tight spacing of narrow rings ensures that each valve has greatest flow area for given diameter.

Hoerbiger Introduces The CE Compressor Valve - High Performance At Medium And High Lifts

Pompano Beach, FL - April 1, 2002 - HOERBIGER announces the
release of its new CE compressor valve. The CE valve adds to HOERBIGER's comprehensive, industry-leading line of products and services for reciprocating compressors and represents a giant leap forward in both design and materials.

The CE valve is a profiled ring valve that focuses on delivering outstanding performance at medium and high lifts. The design is a complement to the HOERBIGER CX valve (introduced in 1999), which was created and optimized for light gas applications and low lifts.

Process gas compressors are frequently operated with cylinder lubrication to enhance the lifetime of piston and rider rings. Additionally, the process itself often contains sticky constituents (e.g., polymers), which will appear during the compression of the gas. These adhesive materials cause the valves' internal parts to cling to flat surfaces in a process referred to as "stiction".

With the CE valve, stiction effects at the valve opening are countered by the convex shape of the ring profile mating to a beveled seat profile. The linear contact between seat and ring guarantees minimum oil stiction forces. In addition, special
machining on the guard eliminates stiction effects during valve-closing.

HOERBIGER has also addressed the issue of excessive seat wear by
introducing thermoplastic sealing elements reinforced with carbon fibers. In the past, glass fibers have been used as reinforcement. The abrasive nature of glass, however, often leads to accelerated wear of the valve seat. Hoerbiger's new high performance plastic materials have demonstrated dramatic wear improvements in pilot installations all over the world.

The CE valve delivers superior efficiency in addition to maximum reliability. The geometries of the rings and seat have been designed to minimize flow restriction through the valve. Tight spacing of narrow rings also ensures that each valve has the
greatest flow area available for a given diameter.

HOERBIGER is the world's largest independent compressor valve manufacturer in the world of components for reciprocating compressors, employing over 3,700 people and maintaining production facilities and service centers in 33 countries. A growing number of sales and service centers with complete repair capability and parts support are in close proximity to major energy and industrial centers. In the Americas, HOERBIGER is headquartered in Pompano Beach, Florida.
