Compression Test System exceeds CTM standards.

Press Release Summary:

Exceeding many California Test Method standards, SATEC(TM) Series DX Compression System is equipped with automatic exudation detection for soils and audio prompting for stabilometer testing for asphalt and soils. As moisture is detected in soil sample by exudation fixture, PLC interface determines if exudation has occurred according to CTM 301. When exudation occurs, test will end automatically and load results are instantly reported in Partner(TM) software.

Instron Develops Compression Testing Solutions For California Test Methods

Instron, a leading provider of testing equipment designed to evaluate mechanical properties of materials and components, has developed the SATEC(TM) Series DX Compression System. Working closely with several CalDOT labs, this testing system exceeds many of the California Test Method (CTM) standards, including CTM 301, 304, 308, 360, 366, 371 and 373.

The compression testing system is equipped with automatic exudation detection for soils and audio prompting for stabilometer testing for asphalt and soils. As moisture is detected in a soil sample by the exudation fixture, a PLC interface determines if exudation has occurred according to CTM301. When exudation occurs, the test will end automatically and load results are instantly reported in the Partner(TM) software. Audio prompting for stabilometer testing enables a single operator to run the tests consistently and efficiently. The operator is prompted with an audio alert at each load level when a reading is required from the stabilometer pressure gauge.

Partner software offers a simple user interface and provides users with a fast, one-step testing mechanism and clear, color-coded results display. Data is collected continuously offering real-time measurements and graphs. Additionally, Partner software stores the data and results in a database for easy access from other corporate application software. Easy-to-use customizable reports are also available for hard copy results.

Additional features include: an upper spherical compression plate with lockout ring eliminating the need for shims, an extended tabletop that provides extra area for placement of a stabilometer, and a single footprint design requiring less room in the lab.
