Original Press Release:

New Family of Compression Molding Presses for Composites, Rubber, Plastics & Other Advanced Materials

Mount Carmel, IL - Pacific Press Technologies a leader in hydraulic press technology, applies its advanced technology to presses for rubber, plastic compression molding, as well as advanced composite processing applications.

All Pacific Compression Presses feature advanced high speed PLC and multi-function software to provide users with real time controls, alarms and data logging. Servo hydraulic systems incorporate aerospace and robotic technologies to give fast and precise control over ram movement and force on pressure sensitive composite materials.

One popular compression molding press includes the Model "N" upacting presses for rubber and plastic compression molding applications demanding precision and repeatability processing cycles. The Model "N" presses meet the needs for heating or curing cycles ranging for several seconds up to more than an hour. A microprocessor-based control provides ramping of temperatures (both hot and cold), pressure and cycle variables to meet critical process requirements. Molding dimensional tolerances benefit from the precision slide/ bolster parallelism system designed into all Pacific hydraulic presses.

Pacific compression presses also include three types specifically for composites. Fabri-Comp SMC (Sheet Molding Compounds) and Thermoplastics Forming Presses feature high-speed servo-controlled CNC with rapid close at 1,000 ipm and processing speeds up to 100 ipm. Dual ram models use precision scales and high-resolution axis control to synchronize cylinders for left-to-right off-center loading. Fast-acting material handling system allow for fully automatic operation with consistent part quality.

Pacific Lamination Presses offer the composites industry unique features for "time-after-time" repeatability. Computer calculated bed deflections meet individual process requirements, and precision gib guidance systems provide accurate registration of lay-up.

RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) Presses meet the special requirements of this closed mold process for polymer and fiber composites. RTM involves loading a dry fiber pre-form into the mold cavity and forcing a liquid resin into the fiber bundle. Pacific RTM presses meet the process requirement of large bed areas with clamping pressure required by the process. The up or down acting design, together with clear access to all sides of the mold, offers the latest in RTM technology.

RIM (Resin Injection Molding) presses incorporate press tilting for proper mold fill is available.

The heated platen choices for all Pacific Compression include electrical, steam & fluid heated platens with maximum temperatures from 350 to 2,000F, and electrically heated/water cooled platens with temperatures up to 2000F. All heated platens are ground flat and parallel to 0.001" per foot of platen area.

Full factory training and service support is available from Pacific.

Headquartered in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Pacific Press Technologies is a leading builder of hydraulic presses, pressbrakes and shears for the metal forming and compression molding (advanced composites, rubber, plastics) industries.
