Composite Wall Panels help optimize building performance.

Press Release Summary:

Optimizing performance by continuously insulating and sealing building envelope, composite structural insulated panel (C-SIP) integrates 6 functions — exterior sheathing, superior insulation, air barrier, vapor retarder, moisture barrier, and structural walls — into one product. Wall panels consist of fiberglass reinforced thermoset polymer skins bonded to rigid polyurethane foam and will not delaminate. With R-value of 26, 4 in. foam core will not settle, shrink, or lose insulating value.

CPBS Introduces Innovative Composite Structural Insulated Panels

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- Composite Panel Building Systems (CPBS) introduces a fully composite structural insulated panel (C-SIP) designed to deliver superior performance by continuously insulating and sealing the building envelope. CPBS spokesperson said, "The C-SIP is unequaled in building science development and engineered with six functions integrated into one building product: exterior sheathing, superior insulation, air barrier, v por retarder, moisture barrier and structural walls."

The C-SIP wall panels consist of fiberglass reinforced thermoset polymer (FRT) skins bonded to rigid polyurethane foam by a chemical reaction during manufacturing, which eliminates any risk of delamination. The C-SIP 4" foam core, with an R-value of 26, will not settle, shrink or lose insulating value over time providing significant energy savings.

Serving as an air and moisture barrier, the energy efficient C-SIP replaces multiple building products, including house wrap, with a single, precision engineered product enabling LEED and NAHB Green Building points.  Many house wraps, water resistive barriers and laminated or fibrous SIPs suffer damage during installation and fail to prevent water intrusion before finish materials are applied. C-SIP wall panels are engineered to withstand the rigors of the construction process without losing performance value, cutting re-work, saving time and labor costs.

CPBS has teamed with several major materials manufacturing companies including 3M and Bedford to integrate a complete system of accessory products that drive additional energy, moisture and vapor performance characteristics for the C-SIP System. Eco-friendly composite FRT channels from Bedford are used to join the C-SIP wall panels together, attach to the foundation, floor system, and roof structure as well as pultruded composite frame windows. The FRT channels eliminate the use of wood or metal connection materials - the greatest contributors to thermal bridging - which are susceptible to rot, mold and moisture penetration, as well as termite or insect infestation that can dramatically weaken the structure.

The structural walls in the C-SIP System eliminate the need to convert studs to expensive 2 x 6 framing, in order to meet progressing energy codes with the added cost of extra insulation. The cost effective installation of the C-SIP System achieves 2012 energy code requirements today while ensuring rapid assembly, reducing job site waste and increasing building envelope performance.

The tight building envelope created by using CPBS products with the required joint sealing system delivers a substantial reduction in the required HVAC cooling load - as much as a 40 to 50% decrease over required cooling capacity for a building using conventional building materials. Using C-SIP wall panels reduces the cost of HVAC equipment and cuts the operating costs for the lifetime of the building, delivering an attractive net-zero investment and a long term return on investment.

For homeowners considering alternative energy systems, building with the C-SIP is a fantastic starting point to reach 'Net Zero' energy consumption. The dramatic reduction in energy use allows smaller and more affordable alternative energy systems to yield a higher cost-benefit value. The C-SIP System puts a building project within reach for achieving true 'Net Zero' performance.

The 6-in-1 capabilities of the C-SIP wall panel combined with the integrated joint sealing system deliver the most advanced, 100% composite building system available in the industry. The energy efficient C-SIP System provides long term sustainability and a return on your investment and is the construction solution of the future ... today!
