New M7iM Seal From Burgmann Features A Super-Sinus Spring Design Providing Greater Axial Tolerance And Longer Seal Life

The new M7iM seal from BURGMANN utilizes a one-piece Super-Sinus spring in place of the multi-springs found in traditional pusher seal designs. The Super-Sinus spring provides a more uniform axial force, giving the seal greater tolerance to installation and increasing seal life even under demanding conditions.

The M7iM component seal is designed for use with ANSI pumps worldwide in a broad range of process applications. The seal features interchangeable parts, so inventory requirements are reduced. Seal faces can be easily replaced, so the M7iM seal can easily adapt to changing process conditions.

The new seal is well suited for applications where seal chamber size limitations are a problem. The installation length of the M7iM is equal to or less than conventional component seals, so it will fit most stuffing boxes without equipment modifications. The seal's open drive collar is self cleaning and self cooling, so it spins away clogging solids particles while supporting active cooling.

Made of heavy, flat wire with a large cross-section and no welding spots, the Super-Sinus spring survives far longer in corrosive environments than regular multi-springs. It also features a cold-formed material structure that reduces the risk of spring fracture.

Sizes ranging from 1.000 in. to 4.000 in. (25 mm to 101 mm) are available, with other sizes available on request.

The M7iM seal features an operating temperature range from -58°F to 430°F (-50°C to 220°C) and an operating pressure limit of 360 psi (25 bar), depending on the seal face materials specified. It is capable of operation at shaft speeds up to 66 feet/sec (20 m/s).
