Companies Tap American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to Improve Operating Efficiencies with Ametek Process Instruments

PITTSBURGH, PA -Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), industrial users have an opportunity to apply for grants for achieving energy conservation, improving process efficiency and developing alternative fuels through the installation of AMETEK process instruments and combustion efficiency monitors.

The grants are available directly from the federal government through the ARRA via individual state and local agencies with separate initiatives funded by the Act. AMETEK Process Instruments has begun offering assistance to its customers in applying for grants or developing projects that include its extensive line of Thermox® and Land® combustion efficiency and environmental emission monitors as well as AMETEK® Proline and ProMaxion process mass spectrometers.

AMETEK offers the process industry's most extensive line of flue gas analyzers for measuring oxygen, combustibles, CO, CO2, methane and fuel-rich atmospheres. Its WDG-IVC combined Oxygen and Combustibles analyzers, for example, are a superior alternative to in-situ probes, even in heavy particulate and high-temperature flue gas streams. Its WDG Insitu-Genesis is a cost-effective flue gas oxygen analyzer that was developed specifically for combustion analysis and control applications.

Land® combustion efficiency, temperature and environmental monitoring instruments include the FGA Series of flue gas analyzers--compact, extractive flue gas analyzers that are able to sample up to six pollutant gases (CO, NO NO2, SO2, O2 and CO2) and Lancom III --a lightweight portable combustion and emissions analyzer that measures up to eight gases simultaneously.

AMETEK also offers the Land 9100 CO Monitor-a cross stack infrared in-situ carbon monoxide monitor that provides high accuracy and reliable CO measurement for improved combustion efficiency and the land Cyclops 390B FurnacePro - a high-precision, portable infrared thermometer designed for accurate measurement of tube temperature in gas- and oil-fired boiler and furnace applications.

Along with its range of combustion efficiency monitors, stack gas emissions analyzers and infrared thermometers, AMETEK has several advanced process mass spectrometers that achieve significant energy savings for end users through real-time process monitoring and control as well as the development of alternative fuel technology.

The Dycor® ProLine(TM) RQ, for example, provides continuous measurement of bioreactor off gases for determining when to stop or continue the fermentation of biofuels, while the Dycor ProLine FC was developed specifically to meet the needs of fuel cell design, development, research, pilot plant and production.

The ProMaxion process mass spectrometer extends those analysis capabilities into hazardous area locations. It also allows pharmaceutical manufacturers to significantly cut energy use by reducing solvent drying times by as much as 50% versus traditional methods employed by the pharmaceutical industry.

AMETEK Process Instruments also manufactures non-combustion analyzers, including trace oxygen and moisture analyzers, photometric analyzers, and Dycor quadrupole mass spectrometers. AMETEK instruments are fully supported by a global network of sales representatives and technical support. AMETEK Process Instruments is a unit of AMETEK, Inc., a leading global producer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices with annual sales of more than $2.5 billion.
