The New Beckhoff C69xx Series: Big M Class Power from Pint-Sized Industrial PC
Compact Industrial PCs deliver dynamic, GHz-level processing power, but leave ample cabinet room for other devices
MINNEAPOLIS, October 11, 2006 - Continuing the push for Industrial PCs that are smaller, better and faster, Beckhoff Automation has introduced the C6920 and C6925 Industrial PCs. These PCs feature 3 1/2 inch motherboards, which make it possible to utilize Intel® Celeron® M or Pentium® M processors up to 1.8 GHz. Despite the processing power, C69xx PCs are incredibly small, measuring 2.6" x 9.1" x 4.6" (W x H x D) in the "largest" housing configuration. Assembled with thick plating, the PC housings are still built to last like all Beckhoff Industrial PCs.
The basic configuration of this Industrial PC series features a flash disk as the boot and memory medium, providing users with a solid state PC with no moving parts. The C6925 with 1 GHz Intel® Celeron® M ULV processor is a fanless model. The C6920 ramps up the processing power with the choice of a 1.5 GHz Intel® Celeron® M or 1.8 GHz Intel® Pentium® M processor and has an easy-to-service fan tray on the underside of the case. All C69xx PCs are rated for operation at ambient temperatures up to 131° F (55° C).
The C69xx PC's flash disk (up to 8 GB), optional 40 GB hard drive measuring just 2 1/2 inches and the CMOS battery are easily accessible behind a front cover. As another option, a second flash disk can be integrated behind the front cover. All connections are also conveniently located at the front: power supply, 2 x Ethernet for system networking over EtherCAT or Ethernet, 1 x serial RS232 interface, 4 x USB 2.0 ports, 1 x DVI-I connection.
The C69xx features an available slot that gives users three options that they can choose one of: a fieldbus interface, a third Ethernet port or non-volatile RAM. Available fieldbus interfaces include DeviceNet, Profibus DP, SERCOS Interface and CANopen. The non-volatile RAM is available in 128 KB, 256 KB and 512 KB.
The PC RAM (256 MB DDR RAM as standard) can be expanded up 2 GB. Windows XP, XP Embedded or Windows CE are available as operating systems. The C69xx series Industrial PCs are supplied with a 24 V DC power supply unit, optionally with integrated uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
