FIPA Introduces a New Series of Compact ID Grippers with a 3-10mm Diameter Range

Versatile, robust, & easy to install, the new series features interchangeable gripper heads ideal for small recesses & FDA approved for direct food contact, providing an effective alternative to suction cups & sprue grippers for workpieces with holes or recesses

CARY, N.C. — FIPA Inc., a leading manufacturer of advanced vacuum technology, gripper systems, air nippers, tube lifters, and End-of-Arm-Tooling (EOAT), has introduced a new series of compact ID grippers with a 3–10mm diameter range. Versatile, robust, and easy to install, the new single-acting, pneumatically operated expansion grippers are designed to handle lightweight parts with small dimensions and are suitable for integration into complex gripper systems. Featuring interchangeable polyamide gripper heads ideal for gripping within small recesses and FDA approved for direct contact with food, the new ID grippers gently grip workpieces from the inside, providing an effective alternative to suction cups and sprue grippers for products with holes or recesses.

“FIPA’s entire line of ID grippers has been completely overhauled and made even more user friendly,” said Rainer Mehrer, president of FIPA. “Now, our ID grippers feature new diameter ranges to accommodate workpieces with varying sizes and weights. Further, in combination with the extensive range of FIPA mounting elements we offer, they can handle products in almost any position, enhancing the value we provide to our customers.

Made of high-strength, anodized aluminum, the 14 ID grippers in the series feature exchangeable gripper heads and a silicone O-ring for improved holding force, are easy to integrate, allow for the optional monitoring of piston position, and accommodate a variety of parts with inner diameters ranging from 3.5mm to 10.4mm. Optimal feed pressure for the series is 6 bar, clamping diameter is 14mm, and each part weighs 21g. Additionally, to further facilitate integration into gripper systems, the series is available with a wide range of matching fittings, screw connections, and accessories, including: an extension mounting tube, a sensor mounting bracket, and optional PNP and NPN sensors.
