Compact 400 W Power Supply can reach 700 W for up 0.5 sec.

Press Release Summary:

Suited for 1U applications, SDL400 series single- and dual-output AC/DC power supplies come in various mechanical formats: U channel, U channel with cover (-C option), top fan cover (-F option), and end fan cover (-E option). All formats, except top fan mounted version, are <1.6 in. high, and variable speed fan reduces audible noise at lower load conditions in -E and -F models. In applications without fan or forced air flow, single-output models can operate with convection cooling to 220 W.

Original Press Release:

Compact 400 Watt Power Supply Capable of 700 Watt Peak

XP Power today announced the SDL400 series of 400 Watt single and dual output AC-DC power supplies. These compact units, suitable for 1U applications, are available in four mechanical formats: U channel, U channel with cover (-C option), top fan cover (-F option) and end fan cover (-E option). All of the formats apart from the top fan mounted version are less than 1.6 inches (39.9 mm) high. A variable speed fan is used to reduce audible noise at lower load conditions and extend fan life in the –E and –F models. For applications without a fan or forced air flow, the units can operate with convection cooling up to 220 W for the single output models.

With a peak power output of up to 700 Watts for up 0.5 s, the SDL400 is ideal for applications that might have a higher power demand for short duration loads such as starting up a motor. This capability saves designers from having to specify a larger, more expensive power supply to satisfy this requirement.

Single output models are available with the popular nominal outputs between +12  and +48 VDC, as well as both a +54 and +60 VDC output variant.  Dual output models have a +5 VDC output in combination with a +12, +24 or +48 VDC or a +12 / +24 VDC model. The output voltage V1 can be manually trimmed +/-5% with the dual’s V2 output tracking by the same percentage of adjustment.

The SDL400 series has an operating temperature range from 0 to +50 degrees C, and with derating up to +70 degrees C. Overvoltage, overload and short circuit protection are standard features. Additionally, all models have remote on/off, power good and fan fail signals. The units meet EN55022 class B conducted and radiated emissions. Safety agency approvals are per UL 60950-1, CSA 22.2 No. 60950-1 and EN 60950-1 standards.

A low leakage current option (500 µA) is available by adding –L to the part number.

The SDL400 is pricing at $198.90for 500 pcs of the single output U channel model. They are available from Newark or direct from XP Power and come with a 3 year warranty.
