Communications Interface operates using Java applet.

Press Release Summary:

WebView I/O, WVC16 Communications Interface module allows users to view process data on near real-time basis, perform data logging functions on specified modules, calibrate signal conditioners remotely, and view diagnostic information. It can communicate with up to 32 WebView I/O modules by means of its internal infrared communications link, and will notify up to 10 people by e-mail when out of range conditions exist.

Action Instruments Announces the New WebView I/O, WVC16 WebView Communications Interface Module

SAN DIEGO, CA - Action Instruments announces immediate availability of the WebView I/O, WVC16 WebView Communications Interface module. The WVC16 is the heart of the WebView I/O System. The WVC16 adds functionality above and beyond the normal signal conditioning features. This powerful combination allows the user to view process data on a near real-time basis, perform data logging functions on specified modules, calibrate the signal conditioners remotely and view diagnostic information.

The WVC16 communicates with up to 32 WebView I/O modules by means of an internal infrared communications link (no user programming required). When an out of range condition exists, the interface will generate an email message to notify up to ten people, who might need to be informed when the alarm condition exists. With the user selectable timer, a module can send a message letting maintenance people know when it's time to perform calibration checks.

All of this functionality is made possible by a Java applet that gets downloaded (transparently) to run on the client's computer. The reason for using an applet rather than just a web page is so data can be updated and viewed in near real-time. The applet provides easy access to the signal conditioner's data via several different tab functions: Module Configuration Summary/Editing, Diagnostic/Warning Status, Email Setup & Address Book, Process Variable Viewing and Data Logging. All memory to support the signal conditioner's historical data, data logging, storage of the web page, Java applet and email function is contained on the WVC16, and is battery backed-up.
