Eaton Corporation Introduces New Line Of Compact Combination Starters Emphasizing A Space- and Cost-Saving Design

PITTSBURGH, PA. Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation introduced new Cutler-Hammer reversing and non-reversing compact starters that combine motor disconnect, magnetic short-circuit trip, overload, and contactor functions. Designed for panel builders and original equipment manufacturers (OEM), these starters feature a space- and cost-saving design while providing all of the safety and protection required for a motor circuit in one device.

"By integrating a manual motor protector (MMP) with a wiring connector link and modified contactor, we're able to reduce the number of short-circuit protective devices (circuit breakers, fusible switches) in a local panel system," says product manager, Michael Mikolajczak, for the company's Cutler-Hammer business.

Like other Cutler-Hammer starters, the compact combination starters are designed to Type 2 Coordination standards, which require that a starter must exhibit little or no damage following a major short-circuit fault and must be able to be returned to proper service without replacing any parts. Additionally, they are UL Listed for Group Motor Installations, which allow the panels to be installed globally.

Both reversing and non-reversing starters are rated up to 100A. In addition to complete assembled products, separate components will be offered to permit compact combination starter assembly in the field. Other safety features include finger-proof line and load terminals that prevent electrical shock to personnel.
