Bayly Communications' Omnihub Provides Three-In-One Functionality

~ Network operators and enterprises benefit from combination of CSS, RAS and LAN hub features ~

TORONTO, ON - March 2, 2004 - Bayly Communications Inc. (bayly.com), a leading manufacturer of network access and transmission products for worldwide telecommunications markets, has released OMNIHub, its combined serial server (CSS), remote access server (RAS) and LAN hub.

OMNIHub provides an economical, easy-to-use method of aggregating serial and LAN devices through one device that can be easily and seamlessly deployed to the central sites of a network, as well as to remote office or branch networks.

"OMNIHub provides the flexibility, capability and ease of use network operators and enterprises have been seeking," says Gary Johnson, Bayly's Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "OMNIHub offers them the functionality of a serial server, remote access server and LAN hub all in one device that uses less rack space."

The OMNIHub can be used as a RAS using serial line Internet protocol and PPP with security by PAP, CHAP and Radius. It can be purchased as a 16s 8h or 16h 8s unit and provides terminal and printer access. All serial ports are ESD-protected to 15KV. OMNIHub provides up to 230kbs throughput per port and includes a 32-bit processor.

"OMNIHub is a key addition to Bayly's portfolio of products that will help network operators support integration of IP-based technologies into legacy TDM networks," adds Johnson. "Bridging legacy systems into the IP world is a necessary strategy to enhance network efficiency while reducing costs."

OMNIHub is ideally suited for wireline environments such as retail, transportation and healthcare to provide consolidation of data for secure management and data acquisition, or within an enterprise to provide LAN connectivity and data distribution.
