Ricoh Unveils Two MFPs Designed Specifically for Healthcare

MP C300HW and MP C300HT help offices, departments and clinics address their unique information management challenges

MALVERN, Pa. -- Ricoh Americas Corporation today extended its line of multifunction products (MFPs) engineered specifically for healthcare by unveiling the versatile MP C300HW and MP C300HT.

These color MFPs, which print/copy at 32 pages per minute, help healthcare organizations improve outcomes amid rising costs, changing legislation, security risks and provider consolidation. They complement the healthcare MFPs and printers Ricoh announced in March at HIMSS 2013.

"These MFPs are designed specifically to provide the features, attributes and performance that our healthcare clients require to meet their toughest information management challenges," said Dominic Pontrelli, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Ricoh Americas Corporation. "We've learned over decades of experience working with these clients that they need business information solutions that are flexible, easy to use, efficient, customizable and secure across the entire continuum of care."

Users of the MP C300HW and MP C300HT can scan records directly to the customer's secure email systems, folders, FTP sites, document servers and archives. Like its siblings in the Ricoh line of MFPs engineered specifically for healthcare, the MP C300HW enables healthcare organizations to print patient wristbands from electronic medical records without the need for expensive single-purpose thermal printers or extensive configuration. Wristbands today carry an increasing wealth of clinical information, including barcodes, color-coded alerts, patient photos and more. The MP C300HW reduces the typical cost of wristband production by handling media as narrow as 3.25 inches, reducing consumption of expensive wristband stock.

New Teflon-coated paper trays in the MP C300HW and MP C300HT easily accommodate the wristband stock as well as other specialty papers (e.g., prescription paper). The trays' coating minimizes misfeeds for efficient, uninterrupted print runs.

The MP C300HW and MP C300HT also help organizations address their HIPAA compliance and privacy requirements through standard features such as:

--  Locked Print Technology, which holds documents until an authorized user provides credentials such as a password.

--  Hard Drive Encryption, which encrypts address books, passwords and certain data stored on the device.

--  And the DataOverWriteSecuritySystem (DOSS), which protects valuable information by overwriting digital images on the hard drive.

Specifications

The MP C300HW and MP C300HT print paper up to 8.5 inches by 14 inches at a resolution of up to 1200 x 1200 dpi. They include optional faxing and a standard Java VM card that enables customers to easily add on Ricoh and third-party applications to gain powerful new capabilities.

The MFPs are available now at an MSRP of $6,570 for the MP C300HW and $6,260 for the MP C300HT, the main difference being the MP C300HW's wristband printing capability.
