Original Press Release:

Hitachi Power Tools Introduces its New & Improved SuperDrive Collated Screw Systems

NORCROSS, GA., December 28, 2005 - Hitachi Power Tools today announced its new line of SuperDrive systems that offer the ultimate in collated screw fastening. Developed to improve the efficiency and ease of repetitive upright fastening, the W6V4SD and W6VB3SD feature a new ergonomic design and incorporate the latest innovations ideal for jobs from sub floors to fastening down a deck from a standing position.

The Hitachi W6V4SD and W6VB3SD are equipped with an entirely new depth of drive system. This innovative tool-free depth adjustment requires only a press of a block and a turn of the knurled wheel to increase or decrease the depth of the screw.

While other tools need multiple attachments for different length screws, the Hitachi SuperDrive system is more versatile. Both the W6V4SD and W6VB3SD accept a wider fastener range from ¾" to 3" with the provided module saving time and energy. Both may use the LOX Bit System which provides 8 points of contact between the bit and the screw. The LOX system requires less downward force from the user to maintain torque and contact, minimizing fatigue and reducing bit slippage.

These new SuperDrive systems from Hitachi are engineered to offer the ultimate in both power and comfort and each offer the optimal balance of torque and speed to master repetitive use for the specific fastening application. Specifically, the W6V4SD features a no-load speed of 0-4,500 RPM and a max torque of 81.5 in-lbs and is ideal for faster fastening applications. The W6VB3SD features a no-load speed of 0-2,600 RPM and a max torque of 139.6 in-lbs ideal for applications needing more turning power.

Both tools are equipped with powerful 6.6 Amp motors and 750 Watts of input power. The bodies and handles of the tools are covered in a soft, yet durable elastomer compound, which provides a comfortable slip-resistant grip. The handles are angled outward in order to ergonomically conform to the way ones hand grips the tool during repetitive use. Belt-hooks are incorporated onto the top of the bodies for convenience. Large 2-finger triggers are designed for comfort and control during operation and can be locked-on for continuous use. Located for convenience above the triggers is the forward/reverse switch.

The gear cases and inner covers are constructed out of aluminum to add durability and increase tool life. Plastic covers keep the gear case from being scratched or damaged during extreme use. The 24.6 ft. power cords are unusually long to allow movement without the hassle of relocating to different power outlets.

This new line of SuperDrive systems come complete with a screwdriver, 20" extension, SuperDrive module, LOX and Phillips bits, sub floor and drywall nosepieces and a Cordura carrying bag. They reflect the aggressive ergonomic design being implemented by Hitachi Power Tools. Hitachi is pioneering yet another new trend in the industry- tools that incorporate the latest technology with ergonomic design- a look that will modernize the traditional shop or jobsite
