Cogiscan and Juki Automation Systems Introduce Lean Material Control

BROMONT, CANADA, OCTOBER 1, 2008 - Cogiscan Inc., the leading track, trace and control solutions provider for the electronics manufacturing industry, in collaboration with strategic partner Juki Automation Systems, is pleased to announce the release of their new Lean Material
Control system.

This new product complements the award-winning IFS-X2 intelligent feeder system that was developed in collaboration between Juki Automation Systems and Cogiscan. Additional software modules have been developed by Cogiscan to provide manufacturers with an unprecedented level of control over the flow of their materials from the warehouse to the finished product in the field. The new functionality includes Lean Kitting and Factory Monitoring, feeding real-time information from the assembly line to the warehouse, enabling true Lean material flow.

According to Alexandre Boussetta, Corporate Director of Operational Excellence, NPI and Technology at Triton Electronik: "Implementing Lean Manufacturing is really mandatory in our industry because price competition and cost efficiency are so crucial. A large proportion of the costs are associated with the inventory of components. In order to differentiate our services we rely on Cogiscan to insure that the concept of Lean manufacturing is an integral part of our material control system on our SMT lines. Automating this process insures that we have a consistent level of performance regardless of the assembly line, shift or employee. It is also a more efficient way to handle it."

Gilles Beaulne, Vice-President of Operations at Triton Electronik also adds: "With the Juki/Cogiscan solution we can produce a higher quality product at a lower cost and with a shorter lead time than our competitors. "

Bob Black,CEO of Juki Automation Systems stated, "We are very pleased with this new product introduction. This is a great example of how we work with strategic partners to offer greater value and the lowest cost of ownership to our customers. A growing number of our new and existing customers are experiencing the benefits of IFS-X2 feeder intelligence and now they will be able to get even more value from this very powerful Lean Material Control system. This expanded solution goes well beyond the SMT line, delivering outstanding value with a proven user-friendly package. "
