Cobra Electronics Adds Innovative New Location-Based Crowdsourcing Database Capabilities to Cobra iRadar(TM)

Free Enhancements to Award-Winning Smart Detection System Adds a Social Media-Like Community Database for Improved Driver Alerts and Safety

LAS VEGAS - 2011 International CES - Cobra Electronics Corporation (Nasdaq: COBR), the leading manufacturer of radar detection devices, today announced the upcoming release of a powerful new crowdsourced database enhancement to the award-winning Cobra iRadar smart detection system. The enhanced system will store location-based radar and laser signals taken from the Cobra iRadar user community and intelligently share this information with other users. This real-time network of Cobra iRadar detectors and shared safety information sets a new technological benchmark in the detection industry. Cobra Electronics is showcasing Cobra iRadar and its entire line of products this week at the Consumer Electronics Show at booth number #9845 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

In addition to crowdsourced radar and laser data, the Cobra iRadar system includes AURA(TM), the only 100-percent verified database of driving threats and hazards throughout the GPS/navigation industry. Cobra iRadar consists of the dash-mounted Cobra iRadar Detection Unit; a sleek, compact and powerful detector unit, combined with the Cobra iRadar app. The Cobra iRadar app is available as a free download for the iPhone® and coming soon on Android(TM) smartphone platforms. The new Cobra iRadar user-community will be a database enhancement to the Cobra iRadar app, providing GPS-based, near real-time updates delivered seamlessly to the rapidly expanding community of iRadar users. These new Cobra iRadar features will be released as an app update and will arrive in the spring of 2011.

"Our Cobra iRadar detection system is the first of its kind, integrating the computing power and multi-faceted communications capabilities of leading smartphones with a highly sophisticated radar and laser detection unit," said Sally Washlow, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Cobra Electronics. "The upcoming release brings a social media-like user community aspect to the iRadar by combining a powerful database of known driving hazards with the reach and real-time intelligence of our community of iRadar users. Ultimately, our goal is to deliver driving peace-of-mind and protection to our customers through the industry's most advanced in-car smart detection platform."

The Cobra iRadar database is constantly updated and contains tens of thousands of user contributed radar/laser points as well as known speed and red light camera locations with pinpoint GPS accuracy. With the touch of a button on the smartphone, Cobra iRadar users can now submit database updates to alert other iRadar users of hazardous roads, traffic congestion, and temporary speed traps. This crowd-sourcing model ensures that other iRadar customers are alerted in real-time to upcoming dangers based on their GPS location.

The new Cobra iRadar will be on display in the Cobra booth #9835 at the Consumers Electronics Show in Las Vegas, January 6-9, 2011. For more information on the Cobra iRadar Detection System, please visit www.CobraiRadar.com.
