Cobasys Providing Battery System for Saturn Aura Green Line Hybrid Sedan

ORION, Mich., Dec. 4 -- Cobasys, a leading supplier of advanced integrated energy storage solutions, today announced that they have been chosen to provide their NiMHax® Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery system for GM's 2007 Saturn Aura Green Line Hybrid Mid-Size Sedan which will be available to consumers in the spring of 2007.
The Saturn Aura Green Line features the same hybrid system that powers their VUE Green Line SUV and marks GM's entry into the hybrid passenger car market. The Aura Green Line, which combines sophisticated controls and a unique electric motor/generator mated to their 2.4L Ecotec four-cylinder engine and the Cobasys battery system, delivers a 25 percent fuel economy improvement over the base Aura XE model.
Both the Saturn VUE and Aura hybrid systems provide: an electric power assist during acceleration; increased fuel economy through engine shut-off at idle; fuel cut-off during deceleration; and the capability to capture electrical energy through regenerative braking.
Cobasys confirmed their complete "plug-and-play" NiMHax 36 Volt system that includes its high power advanced NiMH battery modules and electronics in a small, lightweight package was designed specifically for GM's Saturn Green Line hybrid applications. The NiMHax 36 Volt systems will be manufactured at Cobasys' facility in Springboro, Ohio.
